Why is this? because of the following: If a visitor comes to your site and reads you well thought out sales pitch and chooses to click on the affiliate site, they are presented with yet another sales page. Do you think he/she will make a purchase? It is not likely. Nobody likes being bombarded with sales pitches, your job as an affiliate marketer is to prepare the customer, not make the sale. Keep in mind, as an affiliate marketer you have to warm up the prospects and send them over to the actual sales page, not sell it yourself. Your site should recommend things rather than try to sell them, you want to offer enough content to maintain the attention of each visitor, but not seem like an advertising page, more a source of information giving customers the right advice for the right products. Then they click the link and are taken to the sales page.
Allowing Yourself to Become Stale
You always want to keep your options open and watch for newly release products in your market. By having an eye on the affiliate marketing industry you'll know firsthand what's going on. You can also use this information to keep your previous customers up to date on any changes or promotions. As you customers start to see you are trustworthy and reliable, you brand name will begin to get ingrained into their minds. You do not want your competition to leave you behind, you need to keep updated to stay in the game.
Failing to build an e-mail list can limit exposure to potential prospects.
Most people who click on your link will not buy your promoted product the first time they visit; it usually takes time for them to check around and make a decision to purchase it. If you aren't using an opt-in form on your website to collect names and email addresses of your visitors, you are losing an opportunity to make long term profits. Once you have acquired a mailing list, you can keep in contact with your signers, building a relationship and providing information on new products or improvements to the existing one. You can use this to develop a relationship in them, so they feel more invested in your product and more inclined to buy from you.
